This shirt pays tribute to the maiden voyage that changed my life forever.
On October 1st, 2009 I left behind everything comfortable in my life in search of adventure, culture and substance.
I booked a one-way ticket to Buenos Aires, Argentina with no friends, zero Spanish knowledge, and $5,000 to my name.
Thanks to the help of some amazing people, I ended up living and working in the city for one year.
“Buena Onda” roughly means “Good Vibes” in Spanish, and it’s a phrase Argentines use often to describe something or someone with good energy.
This is exactly how I feel about my time and relationships in Buenos Aires – the experience that helped turn a wild social travel experiment into a 12+ year lifestyle – Che, Que Buena Onda!
Front Decal:
Maté – The national drink, and way of life
Futebol - National pastime
Asado - Argentine BBQ
Tango - National dance that I’m terrible at
Fernet - National alcoholic drink that helps me Tango
Back Design:
The full back design is inspired by the “Sun of May,” the national emblem of Argentina, which appears on the flag. You will also notice the dotted outline, which is a replica of Argentina’s first coin in 1813.
Last but not least, we added a maté at the bottom of the design because paying respect to Argentina wouldn’t be complete without it.
